Hi guys, I am new to the forum and actually new to classic Hondas, well, new to any Honda. I have been offered this bike and would like your opinion, it is a CB750 K3, or at leas that is what I been told. One of the things that rings a whistle is the front wheel, for some reason is has been changed and there is no front disc brake any more, what is your opinion?

Offered for...? Is it free? Is it a good price? Sure, the drum brake is not stock, but does that break the deal for you? Swapping back is not unduly difficult or expensive if you seek a pure stock, original bike. The crash bars aren't stock either...

Yes the front hub is a drum brake, from another bike. If you are trying to decide on whether or not to purchase the bike though, we need a price, as that is the starting point for any appraisal.

Could be lots of reasons. $2500 is high in my opinion, but that is based upon regional pricing. Location? Clear title? Good running condition?

Too high of a price.(front wheel, seat cover, air filter) Are the pipes rusted underneath? Side cover missing?...Larry

Thanks so much to all, now, I get what you mean on the price been high, but I might work something out with the seller, and again, my biggest concern is being able to get the front wheel (wheel, disc, hub, hydraulics, etc) back to the way they were supposed to be, any idea how much we are talking about? I am ok with used parts. And the big question, what do you think a good price for the bike would be?

You didn't answer many of the questions posed that all determine the price.
- Sell have the title?
- your location?
- does the bike run?
- are you prepared to invest lots of time and some money into making it safe and reliable?
- do you have the space to work on it, time, experience, some tools?

If you find yourself answering "No" to the majority of these, then $2,500 is WAY too high. Resurrecting the front end (especially with Stev-O offering a swap) is pretty inexpensive, say $200-$300 total deepening on new or used parts.

But answer the questions above for us, and we can give you a pretty accurate and fair price.

someone probably swapped the whole front end from a cb450, as it is a bolt on swap...I think you would have to, at least, change fork lowers to get the correct wheel to work. That drum is probably ALMOST as good as the cb750 disc, which is not saying much. They both suck bad by modern standards. Also the paint on that bike is sadly incorrect. Depending on where you are located, it may be worth $2500, if it runs and rides very good.

- does the bike run? YES
- are you prepared to invest lots of time and some money into making it safe and reliable? YES
- do you have the space to work on it, time, experience, some tools? YES, have been playing all my life with classic cars, mostly British.

The bike has 35,XXX miles, it was just painted, as I told you, I know nothing about all Hondas, just trying to learn, "seanbarney41", why is the paint "sadly incorrect", just want to learn.

Based upon your answers, buy it. Especially if you can negotiate a slightly better price. Sean's comment was based upon color for that year, a pure stock thing.

You are correct. not too many here in Mexico, but I can always bring one from the US, that is plan B, starting this classic honda adventure with a CB550, but since this one is all ready here...

it is sadly incorrect...because Honda's OEM paint jobs were beautiful candy or flake or both jobs and that one is not

yeah, I think you are right. I am not familiar enough with the cb450 to know exactly what is going on here

It runs, It's titled, It's there. Buy it.

Anything else can be fixed. No original "patina'd" paint job, but screw it. 35K miles? Could be good, depending on the maintenance schedule kept. These bikes were meant to be ridden.

In my experience those cb450 twin leading drum brakes when set up right and properly adjusted can actually work better than the early cb disc brakes. I saw a photo of one with the rear wheel way up in the air trying to avoid hitting a car that had run a red light - and one of the 450's I used to own used to accidently lock up the front wheel a lot more than my sohc's do(they don't!).
