Topic: new guy here from Nova Scotia

Just thought I'd say hi, been lurking the site for a bit and there seems to be a lot of cool people here with a wealth of information. I've been riding my '75 cb550 since 2000 and picked up a bit of know-how as needed over the years to keep it on the road.  I'm currently in the middle of a complete tear-down and rebuild, I may be in a bit over my head but figured this would be the best way to really learn how the machine works.  My plans are kind of up in the air for the reassembly but I'm leaning towards a stripped down cafe racer theme, it'll be on a bit of a budget as I'm also in the middle of an '80 rabbit pick-up project.  I'd post up some pics but the camera's dead, maybe later.  Looking forward to hanging out here,

Welcome, Lionel.  I've been to Nova Scotia, and it's beautiful country, but I gotta wonder what the riding season is like up there? 3-4 months?

There's about 3-4 months of good riding, but the season can be stretched out a bit longer with some warm clothing, I've ridden into November before but it wasn't too pleasant, when the weather's on your side though Atlantic Canada has some beautiful riding.

I neglected to take a decent "before" picture, this wasn't really planned- I was going to rebuild the carbs and figured that since they were off I may as well deal with the leaky head gasket, and with the head off it would only make sense to replace the block gasket, with the block off it just seemed like a good idea to pull the engine and since the engine was out it was as good a time as any to strip it to the frame and make everything look new (or at least try).

Not a diesel I'm afraid, I was talking to a local guy the other day though who's in the process of swapping an '01 tdi into a rabbit truck.

Where are you in Nova Scotia?  Hope your bike project turns out well.

I guess the weather is favorable this year - I was out riding for hours yesterday!

Cool on the Rabbit pickup, the first car I ever drove was a VW Rabbit     There is a white Rabbit pickup somewhere around where I live (Eastern Passage, in HRM), I see it on the road fairly often
