Sprocket Cover
« on: August 14, 2015, 01:11:28 PM »
I'm relatively new to Honda SOHC bikes, I'm looking to replace the drive chain and both sprockets which looks pretty straightforward to me, however do I need to drain the engine oil before removing the front sprocket cover? I've looked at exploded diagrams and there seems to be no gasket there which suggests engine oil doesn't reach there.
This maybe a basic question but I don't know so I thought it best to seek advice.

Thanks,

Mick.

No, there is no oil behind it--just some old grease. :)

If we're talking about your 550, don't put an o-ring chain on it.  There is not quite enough clearance as the o ring chain is wider, it may rub on the engine case.
