Found this little toy locally, bought it from a guy that really knew nothing about it. Said he rode it for a year, then wouldnt start and he let it sit.
It's a '66 Puch Sabre, fairly rare, not a lot of info on the web about them. Was available for purchase as an Allstate for about $200 new back then!
The motor is a 49cc two stroke.
I brought it home and had it running in 15 min!
Thought my daughter might have some interest and would be a good little bike to have her learn on. First time she saw it, she said "it looks cool, very basic", so thats a good start.
And she is right, it's very basic, no igniton key, just kick and go! It does have a headlight and horn, and they do work, although you need to rev the motor to get enough voltage to hear the horn! Has a four speed transmission and front and rear brakes, all work ok.
I've ridden it around the block a couple times but it keeps fouling spark plugs. It hit 35mph downhill, it felt like I was going much faster!
