Aftermarket Floats and Float needles??
« on: September 04, 2016, 11:09:33 PM »
Any opinion's on the floats and float needles sold on Vintage CB750? I have both but it sees that some folks don't like the aftermarket parts.

When I broke the rack down one of the float needles was stuck compressed. I put it in the ultrasonic cleaner and soaked in lube and it seems to work now or am I setting myself up by not just using the new ones?

Also the floats seemed to be twisted one higher and one lower on the same set. Should I just use the new ones?

Aftermarket rubber parts must be made of Viton to resist ethanol. This includes the rubber tipped float needles. Honda parts are best, but pricey. If you must use aftermarket then the rubber parts must be Viton.

Just twist them back. Likely the last ham-fisted goob twisted them out of shape. Twist them until both floats ride at the same height, just don't bear down on the float needle to do it.

When restoring my 78 750, I tried re-using the original float needles "twice" to no luck. So i purchased aftermarket "K-L" needles. I have not had a problem with them sence. Just make sure you clean the seat area good, i used 000 steelwool..
