Italian H-D (Aermacchi Sprint)
« on: October 28, 2006, 09:15:35 PM »

Well, I never thought I'd have a H-D but, it's not actually a Harley, is it? I acquired a 73' Sprint SS350 but, it's basically a rolling chassis (completely assembled frame on wheels w/ gastank, exhaust system and a seat (only the base is good). Most of what I got is in pretty good shape. Might say I'm kind of a "Pack Rat" (Sometimes the wife thinks I'm just a rat, but that's another story). Along with the sprint, I picked up on an 84' Yam RZ350 (in about the same condition as the Sprint), a 75' Suz RV90 (missing some stuff but, supposed to run) and (saved the best for last) a 72' CB350F (missing the gastank, side covers, bad front brake system, bad seat, and a few misc parts missing. Good news is, I had a gastank and side covers and exhaust is pretty good. Motor was seized but, I took care of that) and an 80' CB650C (mostly a rolling chassis, with a complete motor that turns over and has the exhaust. only thing missing from the motor, was the alternator rotor.) All in all, not a bad haul, I think. When I get to where I can, I'll try to get some pictures and post them, if ya want. Now, they aren't prime stuff but, I feel like there's potential. Now I didn't have to pay for these but, I did have to work for them though.

Those Aermachis (sp?) make great vintage racers if you can keep up with them tune-up wise.
I'm interested in the story behind all this, too.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Appreciate the interest guys. It'll probably be a long term project. I've been kinda
looking around for bits, to see what it's gonna take to get started and so far, things are kinda
outta range and while it's different, it's not presently my front runner of projects. I really have
to take a good look at what I've got just laying around and see if I can't scale back somewhat.
Maybe that would put some funds in reach for some purchases. We'll see. I don't have a
camera except when I get one of those "Disposable jobs" So pictures might be a little slow.

kghost,   How's the Wing coming? Made any progress or are you getting set up to do the job?
              LOL on that.

I always 'liked' those Aermacchi HD's, if only to see the priceless expressions on the faces of HD faithful when they found out that they were part of the same company.
