CB 450 DOHC's are a REALLY fun bike to play with. It's just big enough to run around almost anywhere, they handle pretty good, and you can make them WICKED fast!
Awesome thanks for the reply! There is a really nice one local to me for a good price Im going to check out!
If it is a CL 450, that is what I would consider the most desireable of the two, as would mosty others, I think. The up pipe is just cool and that's all there is to it. I have a '74 KO that is my daily rider, I often do 100 miles a day or more just for recreation and late night wind chill.
It does have vibration issues, and will drop pieces if you aren't checking everything for torque. This summer I lost three of the tail light screws before I noticed them out, lost a winker lens, and most dangerous was wrapping the brake rod around the axle because the PO used a wrong bolt to secure the stay. Last year I lost the collets off the exhaust floret, but of course the floret itself was trapped on the pipe. I have lost bolts on the pegs before. The exhaust heat sheilds rattle loose regularly, but I can still claim that I have more fun on my $1400 CL than my brother has with his $30,000 swimming pool. and probably exponentially less maintainence cost.
Find a whole parts bike if you can, after you rob it of parts you can cafe it.
