I have eaten it, don't care for it, but have no fear of it. Some cable lube may actually taste better.

There is a TV advert in the UK for Marmite(dont get vegemite) it goes

"You either LOVE it or HATE it---there is no middle ground"

Personally i think it is the most godawful thing on the planet--second only to bannanas, strange really 'cos i love drinking the beer the yeast comes from!

What does the Buckleys cough syrup ad say?......... It tastes awful, but it works. http://www.buckleys.com/index.html

Marmite is definately a love it or hate it product. For many boomer English kids it was a staple during childhood. Marmite soldiers being dunked into a soft boiled egg....it is just so comforting. Quite often on my commute home from work in the evening (has to be in a car at this time of the year, but the compensation is I get to be with my eldest son [another marmite kid]) I get a craving for Marmite on toast.

There is a jar in the fridge at all times!

I wanted to vote for the "great cable lube", but really, cablelube that you have to keep in the fridge will probably never be a big hit.

I voted for "licking the sewerpipe", but IMO it tastes more like sticking your tongue in a sealion's earhole.

In a moment of weakness once I think I called it scrapings from a pigs (cows?sheeps?) rectum. Still love it though!

Bah, that method is for pansies! I like to put it straight on Triscuit crackers.. Yum! (I'm off to have some now!  ;D)

I get the true Aussie stuff compliments of St. Prendergast. I send him Easy Cheese and he send the V'mite. It's a fair deal, I'd say!

Ha, ha.. Thanks Serenity!

I remember one time I came home from work and made a V'mite sandwich. Shortly afterward my wife came home. She went to kiss me and then stopped short, going "Sniff..Sniff.. You've been eating Vegemite, haven't you?" She woulnd't smooch me after that...

From a news report for all you conoisseurs and others.

"PEOPLE celebrating Australia Day in Brisbane tomorrow will be able to cool down after their snags and beers with a Vegemite gelato.

Yes, that's right - a Vegemite ice cream.

Italian-trained Gherardo Deflorian and his partner Lei Hua, of Brisbane's Gelateria Cremona, concocted the flavour for lovers of the Australian icon.

"I thought we'd do something different for Australia Day and so I was thinking about maybe lamington, but Vegemite has to be more controversial," Mr Deflorian said.

"When I came to Australia there's so many more ingredients than there were in Italy so I like to keep my job a bit more fun, a bit more interesting so I try new things.

"Everything can be transformed into a gelato."

Mr Deflorian had to get his customers to help him taste-test his newest creation because he doesn't like Vegemite himself.

"They all say it's quite a weird taste but some people do like Vegemite and they say it's quite good," he said.

"It reminds them of when they were little and they had Vegemite on toast with butter."

The Vegemite gelato is not the first time Mr Deflorian has experimented with unusual ice cream flavours.

Last year he made a Guinness gelato for St Patrick's Day and a pear and blue-vein cheese gelato for a local food festival.

And he plans to make a rose-flavoured gelato for St Valentine's Day next month - bellissimo!"

I wonder if Terry can send me some Vegemite gelato....

Of course, then they'll have to work on an Easy Cheese flavor too!
