Old shock rebuild or replace
« on: October 27, 2006, 03:12:11 AM »
I've got a CB77 Superhawk and the old shocks or blown. I've heard that they can be rebuilt but I don't know if thats practicle and I can't get the head of the shock cylinder off. Does anyone have a technique or should I get some replacement shocks? http://www.loudfastugly.com/chrmandacc/MDI/mdi.htm ???

Those cheap shocks are rubbish mate, don't waste your money. English Hagon's are quite cheap, but excellent quality, and more suited to the "era" of your bike. You could take your OEM (?) shocks to a specialist rebuilder, they can rebuild just about any shock and they'll be as good as new, if it's important that you have the originals fitted. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

I've looked at some British replacements and with the dollar conversion they seemed expensive and then adding freight made it worse. Did you check out those MDI's for smaller bikes I linked to? I may go with these. You can see my CB77 in my album. The MDI's are  cheap but they are black and my bike is very orange, but I have blackened the header pipes and so they may not clash.
