Poor Math Grades
« on: August 18, 2015, 04:56:46 AM »
A little boy, Zachary was doing quite poorly in math. His parents had tried everything to help him; tutors, mentors, flash cards and special learning centers. In short, everything they could think of to help him in math. Finally, in a last ditch effort, they took Zachary down and enrolled him in the local Catholic school.

After his first day, Zachary came home with a very serious look on his face. He didn't even kiss his mother hello. Instead, he went straight up to his room and began studying. Books and papers were spread all over his room and little Zachary was hard at work. His mother was amazed! She would call him down to dinner, and the moment he finished, he went straight back up to his room and resumed studying. This went on for some time, day after day while his mother and father tried to understand what had made the difference.

Finally, little Zachary brought home his report card. He quietly laid it on the table, went up to his room and hit the books. With great trepidation, his Mom looked at it and to her great surprise, little Zachary had received an "A" in math.

She could no longer hold her curiosity. She went to his room and said, "Son, what was it? Was it the nuns?" Little Zachary looked at her and shook his head "No". So she asked, "Well, then, was it the books, the discipline, the structure, the uniforms? WHAT WAS IT?"

Little Zachary looked up at her and said, "Well, on the first day of school when I saw that guy nailed to the Plus sign, I knew they weren't fooling around!"

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis
