« on: August 16, 2015, 12:11:37 AM »
Just finished up my first street bike, with a lot of help from the members of this site. Lots of good info and hopefully I can contribute a little!

Guess you're going to have to post in some detail - what the heck did you do to the bucket? Cause I like it  ;D

Hey thanks for the kind words guys. The side cover is a clam-shell battery box. All of the electronics are in there. (nothing under the seat) Fiberglass on the outside and vacuum formed ABS on the inside with an aluminum plate/frame that everything hangs on.

I made the headlight bucket by grafting a lid on a 1977 Cb750F headlight. A ton of bondo, two failed attempts, and some good luck and I had a fiberglass split mold, then I laid up fiberglass and carbon fiber. The crappy pic is after fitting. You can see the black gelcoat. The seat was done the same.

Maybe the hardest part of the build was this little bastard. It's amazing how much perfect symmetry  matters when making parts....to fit other handmade parts.

Sweet bike! There are parts here that I don't usually care for that you made look really decent. I don't care for F tanks but it looks good here. Really digging the left side cover. It looks good and screws to the frame instead of push tabs that break if you're not totally anal about removing. It also looks like it would make better use of the available space under the seat & behind the carbs. I'm at a point on my bike right now where I want to do some fabbing and make it to where I can easily R&R any part of the bike by myself with the help of a floor jack, chain fall, and simple homemade tools. Also liking the seat and tail light setup. Looks very nice.

I kind of remember the headlight - not sure if it was you or not.

Why don't you create a project in the project section with all your pictures for others to see and be inspired?

It will also come handy when you are nominated for BOTM, that's inevitable in my never so humble opinion  ;D

The tail light is from another bike, btw?

I absolutely take that as a compliment! I had the fortune of seeing his bike at Twinline during one of their swap meets. I was blown away at how clean and tight it looked. I went home, looked at my bike and said "bike, you are gonna be Sunrise metal flake orange and wear Honda badges on the covers".

I will try and drag up some pics and see what I can post in the project section. the taillight is a homemade carbon fiber unit with a vacuum formed and coated lens. It had to fit the custom seat.....god i wish i could have found one to buy that fit!

Nicely done bike!
All it's (apparently) missing is a fork brace.  :)

That headlight does look good.
