Definitely no abormal noises. Self confidence in engine building is derteriorating quickly haha. Valve cover is leaking anyway despite a new gasket and permatex high tack on both sides. Going to order one of the fancy cycle x gaskets.

A spring flipped on either end will always be same. :)

A progressively wound spring has more densely packed coils at one end. It is best practice to put the more closely spaced spring windings at the fixed position, because this end of the spring will be heavier. When you put the heavier end of a valve spring at the top, then the first part of the spring that the rocker arm has to put into motion is the heavier end. Yeah it will work, but the forces being exerted against the rocker arm are different based on the mass of the portion of the spring that is being set in motion. This heavier end of the spring will also carry more downward momentum once it is set in motion.

To be clearer my comment should have read.

"Those springs flipped on either end will always be the same." They do NOT look to be progressive to me.

I fully and completely understand the benefits and uses of progressive springs. It does not matter if the springs in question are progressive or not or upside down or not, at any rate they will not keep the man's engine from basic starting and running... :)

Back on it. Cam was advanced too far. Backed it off to stock settings and it started right up. Rode it a couple miles last night. Smoking it's ass off. Had the valve cover breather run to the oil tank and it was blowing oil out the tank cap. That's now venting to atmosphere. Gonna clean the oil out of the exhaust tonight lol. Not sure if the rings aren't seated or if I #$%*ed something else up too lol. I bought a 2009 triumph Daytona recently too so that's been a ton of fun.

Valve cover breather has a long hose routed over the carbs down after the engine, parallel with exhaust on right side, end at the passenger foot peg aiming outwards. Not on wheel/tire.
Cannot be nice smell to get in face when waiting for green at redlight if there is no hose away next to exhaust.
1/2" inner diam hose. I use std one for cars oil/water heat resistant. A little bit thick but works.

Smoking a lot less. Got my tachometer finally hooked up. I'm running a kosei digital gauge that works with the digital tachometer output from the power arc. Gotta buy a bracket for the Speedo pickup then I'll have Speedo. It will also allow me to run an oil temp sensor and show me live temp through the gauge. Cool little unit. Gonna try and tune it a little tomorrow, I say try because my wideband failed. Got a digital temp gauge to set pilot screws with, those are definitely out. Adjustments are really easy with these mikuni carbs.
