chain lube in a squeeze bottle ?
« on: August 14, 2015, 05:41:34 AM »
Anyone here use chain lube in a squeeze bottle ? I have some in an 8oz. bottle made for the RK chain co. by Maxima Racing Lubricants in Santee,CA. marketed as "RK O-ring chain lube". I bought 3 bottles of it a few years ago and just found an almost empty one a few months ago.The oil is fairly heavy and hangs in there very well.I prefer it over the spray-on lubes and apply it w/ a rubber glove very sparingly to each link.I like to give my drive chain lot's of TLC considering it has the most moving parts on the bike.
Have any of you ever used chain lube in a squeeze bottle ?

Sounds like a great idea, no overspray and such.

I've been known to use a mustard bottle. The yellow bottle is easy to locate  ;) Gear oil in a squeeze bottle is available but the smell is obnoxious.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

That hypoid/gear oil sounds like it would hang on the chain well.

That is the recommended lube for my 08 cbr600, as per the owners manual.

Regina chains recommends gear lube. I think absorbs shock well when doing wheelies or burnouts n
I machines a holder that clamped to my rear footpeg mount..for around bottle about 1.5 x 5.0..it had a pullout tube, that I could position over each run of links while spinning the wheel.
It was originally penetrating ether for stuck fastener removal. Tube was a bit small, for gear lube but it worked well when it was warm..

Keep it separate from other stuff.(and near back of bike).tends to leak and get on other things.

That gear lube must have a little 'fling' action because it's still oil... The stuff I'm using from Maxima, that 'RK chain lube' in the white squeeze bootle has a way of settling into the chain and when it cools off it kind of has a 'sticky nature' to it(it gets sort of 'stringy' when you turn the wheel up on the centerstand) to keep it on the chain. When it collects inside the front sprocket cover in stays in a type of 'line/pile' rather than spraying around.I looked for it online but sure can't find it.I bought it about 15 yrs. ago...

I looked online and also found a product from Renthal which is in a black 8oz. squeeze bottle for about $10.The stuff is product# L-102. Have any of you tried that ?

My friend has a hershey's chocolate syrup squeeze bottle full of waste oil he uses on the motocross bikes.  It's constantly either wet and muddy or dusty so it is pointless wasting money on clean oil, and the bikes are frequently  hosed off or powerwashed.
