« on: August 19, 2015, 05:48:09 PM »
But I bet its comfy!!   :P

Found it on flee-bay and got it for cheap....not a rip or tear anywhere on the seat. It's in awesome shape and it has the prettiest pan with all the hardware......WAY better pan than mine!

I am only 6' and found they push you forward.  NIce seat pan though.  Give it a try and see how many mile you get comfortably and go from there.

Might be ok for me.......I'm 6'1" but have short legs. We will see, if its as comfy as it looks I wont care. Either way its an awesome seat pan to start with.

Be careful with the trim on the bottom,  it is difficult to replace as it looks great. It can be used on your replacement if it is the original bottom trim.

I had an ugly his/hers seat on my F2 for a while just to make the bike more comfortable for my wife when we rode 2 up but once I got my 83 interstate roadworthy the factory seat went back on the F2 which is actually more comfortable for me.

I had one of those on a project bike.  I always felt like I needed a shower every time I sat on the bike.

I have 2 of those. One on a CB550 that I'll be recovering, and one on an R75 that I'll be recovering.

Damned popular upgraded back in the 70's. They are comfortable, but ugly as hell.

I suppose if you were going to do an IB it might be good.

I rode 15 hours to Sturgis on 79 GL all the way, wishing for an ugly seat. Before I came home I peeled my hard, slick, tapered to the tank vinyl and took a hack saw blade to the foam. The trip home was better but it took over a week to heal up.

Don, I bet your back & back side still aches when you see the GL's seat.

Surprised nobody has made an elastic cover to slip over one of them to disguise the king/queen seat to have a line bridging the two raised parts. It would still look bad but would it be as ugly as before?

I had a 3/4" piece of plywood covered with thin walmart vinyl fabric on my gixer 1k. I also had tiger striped my tank  with skateboard grip tape, the combo mad it nearly impossible to move; getting off was a chore.

I see those all over ebay. I always wondered how they actually felt. My 77 550 seat with original foam is pretty comfy.

My original seat is very comfortable. Has ridden on it for days during my trips south to Jugoslavia, Italy and Spain, about 2500km's and same back home
Left it to professionals doing seats to cars and boats back in the 80's. Cut the foam in wave shape with rounded corners  and new cover.
Not he most beautiful but OK.

My take on those seats is that if your bike is set up like a Gold Wing with fairing, bags, etc. you don't really notice the seat being ugly as sin. Take all the touring stuff away and the seat stands out like a turd in a jeweler's case!! I'd rather ride on the bare frame but that's just me! If you feel comfortable with that seat by all means roll with it. It's your bike and your butt!

I had a 75 GL1000 that I bought in 94 that was UGLY as all getup, the "you'll never see another like it" kinda of ugly, so I had to buy it. All custom gun metal grey and silver paint with leather bra's on anyplace that you might hit with a boot or knee. Full fairing with bags and a trunk with almost every Markland accessory in stainless steel and with lights that you could buy for it, with a GIANT Eagle etched into the windshield with a color matched 3'x5' trailer. It took me the better part of a month to tear it down to naked, change the windshield, and clean and rewire the whole thing and redo all the accessories with some better mounts. It had one of those seats and it was good for 1000 miles a day at 80mph+ with the Cycle Sound stereo kit with a Midland AM/FM/CB/Tape player. Pullback buckhorns and running boards with a heel/toe shifter.......man she was "decked out". I bought it with 73K on her and sold her for what I paid for her with 163K on the clock. It was a GREAT bike.

Now I'm not gonna make the 750 into that, but I think that seat with a backrest for Momma with make her happy and its easy to switch back and forth for a bit!  ;)

I am surprised no one has taken part of a King/Queen and nested the king into a rear pod for the electrics. If they are tall, then move it back to the needed space and extend the front so a  closer position could be used...ability to change position in the seat.

They are not King and Queen..
One maker was E Z Berg All Day Seats..
Double butt bucket is another name for them.

And yes there was King and Queens made that had a tool or goodie compartment with a door between the two seats.

I remember King and Queen seat. One guy here had one on a CB500. Not that good combo. On a Goldwing, yes.

Installed on Mayble, it is SOOOOOOO comfy, very nice foam work with different densities so you sit into it and not on it. Once I make my sissybar and backrest it will blend right in......LOL

The pan is gorgeous with no rust and all the hardware and when I checked out the trap door.....BONUS!!!
Not perfect, but I didn't have one.
