Coils
« on: August 21, 2015, 10:49:58 PM »
I have a '73 cb750 that I couldn't get to start back in late May. I finally had some time today and take a look at it. I'm thinking my coils are bad but how do I confirm this?  I pulled the 1 and 2 plugs and tried to see if it would arc against the engine. I didn't see any arc. I also checked to make sure I was hot to the coils which I am. Any suggestions?

Check your ignition system while you're at it, whether it be points/condensers or electronic ignition. I would not expect both coils to fail at once, I would suspect ignition components, ignition wiring, or ignition settings (i.e. points gap). Have you inspected the ignition to confirm it is properly set up and properly connected?

Tuning in...going through the same issue with my current 750K3 project. I to have never had a 750 coil fail so am checking on other ignition issues.
