Gold wing rim on 750F hub
« on: August 23, 2015, 10:27:37 AM »
So I have a '76 Goldwing front rim that I want to lace to a '76 750F hub.  Anyone else done this?  I haven't counted yet but I'm guessing the spoke count is the same?  Also, any suggestions on where to get the spokes?

Or you can bolt on a cb750A front wheel. 40 spokes, I'd expect them to be the same but haven't done one yet.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

totally unnecessary...just swap your axle, spacers, rotors, and speedo drive...it's the same hub
If it works good, it looks good...

Thanks for the info.  I'm doing this because I actually have the rim, and the existing rim and spokes are in rough shape.  I didn't plan on doing this, but I picked up the rim (just the rim) from ebay one week when I thought I had concluded a deal for a GL front end minus the wheel and spotted the rim available for $25.  The front end deal fell through, and here I am with a perfectly good aluminum rim that I understand is lighter than the badly corroded steel one that I'm replacing, therefore...

yes the rim will lace up to your hub,but easier to swap the whole gl wheel if you can get one,I did this and it works, also the gl rear rim will lace up to the rear cb 750 hub as well did this too.bill

Yep, I already had a nice Borrani rim on my CB750, so when I installed the 1977 GL1000 forks, I installed the GL discs, axle, spacers, speedo drive etc, and kept the GL1000 wheel for my son's CX500 project. It's good that there's so much interchangeability between early Honda's. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
