I've done some searching within the forum with a little information, some saying yes and some saying no.

A pic is worth a 1000 words.. I borrowed this from Dave500 to show what I'm talking about.  Mine is installed the same way.

The bottom of the cam chain tensioner missed the little slot it should be sitting in, and is getting friendly with the primary chain because of it.

I've taken off the cam cover and removed the cam so I can get to the tensioner.  I've been fiddling with it but cant get it to drop deep enough to get the adjuster screw to fit into place.  I can feel from underneath when I have the bottom of the tensioner in the slot, and when I look from the above the adjustment screw will perch on a shelf where the slot is.  So I attempt the push the tensioner towards the front the engine to clear the screw but it just doesn't want to go down.  It feels like theres some blockage somewhere and I don't want to bend it or break it.

Perhaps the tensioner is already damaged from the bad installation and thats why it wont fit?
Or do I need to remove the head to get it to fit correctly.

I have a spare tensioner I pulled from friend in the past to keep as a spare, so If I need to replace it I can..  Just dont want to rip it all apart and ruin a good none leaking gasket.

Thoughts?

Found this thread.  Makes me feel like less of an idiot at least.

Looks like the head is coming off.

Wish I had checked my compression and all before I took the cam out.  I'd like to make sure I change my rings and such if needed..
