Sorry guys, I'm out. I thought I'd have the bike ready by now, but a few other projects needed to be finished first. I'm aiming for the spring race, or maybe Memphis. Have fun gentlemen! 8)

Hopefully the spring race will bring in more bikes. Its not always easy getting one ready to reach a specific date. I've already missed 4 slf imposed deadlines on my wife's dragbike but I'm slowly running it down. My final goal for this bike is the cup race. I'm going to build a junk yard SOHC bike as back up for anyone who wants to join us over the winter. It may not be a 10 second Honda but I intend to build it for consistency. As long as I've got room on the back of the pickup truck, I'll have it for each race.

That's a pretty cool idea, at least it can be a backup in case someones bike breaks. Uhm, not that anything ever breaks!

Looks like we're about 30 days out from this race. Does everyone have their bikes ready??

Can we get an updated head count on who plans to bring an SOHC to compete at this race?? How about fence hangers- who's in besides our buddy Jerry? Lol.

Hey Bill, when my new F model boots get here, let me borrow those 34's and I'LL prove to you the theory that bigger is not better. I'm confident I can go just as quick, if not quicker with the 34's than my 36's.

I'll jump in the fire here and toss in my 2 cents. Hehe ;D

There are a number of factors to consider.
#1 A no bar street tire bike is hard to get to 60 foot good.
#2 Too big of carbs make this even harder.
#3 A no bar street tire bike is hard to get to 60 foot good.
#4 Mechanical slide carbs make this even harder than CV's.

Bill I would stick with CV's, they are simply more forgiving and will support any power level a SOHC will require.

Remember A no bar street tire bike is hard to get to 60 foot good.

Something about 60 ft.....sounds like I heard that somewhere before. D the 34 RS's are on Cobra Girl. The  34 CV's on the auto. Need some rear shocks also, leaving a .1 or .2 on the table with the struts! Frank,.... you listening? Haha.Lol.

Bill, I'm running the DK8's , Rs36 on my bike. As you can see, the spacing is very close to the sohc. I had to offset grind my boots to get the spacing between the middle carbs correct. The boots had to be opened up anyway for the larger OD of the 36's so moving the circle over was no big deal with the right cutter. Just a lot of rubber flying all over the place and dealing with the smell was the hardest part. Understand that it took me a while to figure out how to launch the big with those oversized carbs but I eventually became fairly proficient at getting the bike off the line without bogging it down or wheeling. If I had to do it again, I'd have waited and gotten Mikuni America to rake me up some 34's as the 36's truly are to big for my 1030 motor. But hey, sometimes our impatience as racers comes at a heavy price. I will say, I love the top end I get from the 36's. I'm sacrificing bottom end without a doubt but my 60' times may not show it readily

Bill can you take a picture of the full carb chart? I used to have one, but I have not seen it in years.  :)

Here is a picture of the bike I hope to ride in Valdosta (one in the foreground after day 1 of work).

My best 60' on my street tire is a 1.42. Average is a 1.46.
