Larger (more teeth) front sprocket means a lower rpm at a given road speed, correct?

Yes, the tradeoff is torque. Speed up/torque down.

Thanks a bunch!

The PO had some gollywog sprocket setup going on this bike, no idea what the rear was, but the front was a 16 tooth...funny thing is, with a new set of sprockets (18 front, stock rear) it seems a bit more "spritely" off the line, which had me confused...

Ah well, I'm throwing a 15 tooth on it next week (city driving *only*)!
