1965 Honda Super Cub carb
« on: September 01, 2015, 08:12:40 AM »
Anyone have any experience working on these old scooters?   Having trouble troubleshooting one.  Can get it to idle but once you try to grab some throttle it dies.  Fuel not getting to it right?  Took carb off, cleaned it really well.  Didn't soak parts but all the jets and passages are all clear..

It ran fine then the guy's brother tried to take a whack at adjusting the mixture screws and all of a sudden we can't get it to work.

I'm not a carb expert but I feel like I've checked everything.  Wondering if anyone has some ideas.  Float level only has two positions.  It can't be fine tuned like a traditional float and needle.  There is a needle that goes through the cent of the float and is held there by 2 e clips and and spring.

Is the carb perhaps not the issue?  It just really seems like it's being starved when you try to throttle it.

Thanks!

Brother may have over tightened the screws, damaging either screws, body, or both. Remove screws and inspect.
