where are all the meet and greets?
« on: September 07, 2015, 07:41:24 AM »
For Southern California having such a long riding season and an abundance of bikes, there are not a lot of regularly scheduled meet ups. The bike shows are very few and far between. I've tried reaching out on this forum and got no response. I love riding, but it's nicer with a group of like-minded people. Maybe we are so spread out and there are not many places to ride where safety and traffic would not be an issue. Maybe SoCal is all about the sport bikes and Harleys because I rarely see another vintage bike. Or, maybe I'll try and start something regular next riding season and see where it goes. Let me know if you are in the SoCal area and would like to think about monthly rides next year. Bear in mind, I have a sidecar and the mountains are a bit challenging (scary) at my present skill level.

Where are you in SoCal -- that's a pretty big, undefined area.  I am in Long Beach.  There are regular rides in LA all the time.  VVMC rides every Wednesday night and every third Sunday.  I ride pretty much every weekend.  I do the group rides less frequently, since you get a lot of eager newbies that really have no idea how to ride, and poseurs/hipsters.

Check out lamotorcyclist.com for events.  The VVMC Rally is coming on September 19, and the DGR is September 27.

My in-laws live in Menifee.  Good luck seeing a vintage bike out there!  (Lots of dirt bikes out there though.)  If you can find vintage bikes out in there to buy, prices are also less steep than in the Orange and LA County areas.

See you all at the VVMC Rally, guys!

I'm trying to find some interesting places to ride to ride to around the inland empire.  Possibly some cool places to eat.
