Unusual Carb Dilemma
« on: September 12, 2015, 11:36:47 AM »
I was about to put the carbs back on the stay plate in preparation for finishing up the carb rebuild when I looked at the Bottom of the carbs.
I saw that on Carb #1 and Carb #4 there appears to be a missing part.  If you look at the attached pictures (First pic is Carb #1 and Second Pic is Carb #2) you will see that there appears to be a brass Vent(?) or ? missing from one of the holes.  Carb #4 is also missing this brass piece.

I can't imagine losing 2 of these, so I'm wondering if anyone has a set of carbs (086A) from a CB750 on their bench right now that could take a picture and post it that shows these brass pieces and whether they exist on all 4 carbs.

I would Really Appreciate it since I'm trying desperately to finish up my carbs.

Thanks,

Charlie

I know mine did not have those brass pieces in 1 and 4. I looked them over and reasoned that carbs 2 and 3 have both because one side vents to atmosphere and the other side is connected to the adjoining carb. On carbs 1 and 4, the side with the brass fitting is attached to 2 or 3, and there is no vent from the other side, so no need for a brass fitting. Make sense? Those vents just allow the air to enter/exit float bowl area as fuel level changes.

Thanks, I was going crazier than normal thinking that I had somehow blown 2 brass pieces out on the floor somewhere when I was using the compressor to dry the carbs out after soaking them in the Ultrasonic, which had really warmed them up and could have loosened things up.

Thanks,

Charlie
