OK POP'S, we hear you and thanks for getting it rolling! Attending and paying winner your $500.00 we really appreciate. However it's time for others to put up or shut up. Just got off the phone with Jay Regan,  1/2 owner with Dave Schnitz of Man Cup. Not only was he all over it but added $100.00 from his pocket! Not Man Cup, but his company, MRE! Jay, thanks. Now, we have formed an association. ...SOHC 750 DRAG RACING ASSOCIATION
We are going to put up at least $2K. Need some more participation!! Waiting for Big Jay to call back. Call in to Kenny also.Told Jay Regan  I'd send him a check for $1000.00 next Friday, press release on Monday. Simple rules and regulations right now. Anyone who brings a SOHC 750 based racer and wins S. ET wins the money!! The first winner only right now.  The first one is dedicated to our very own Mr. Sam Green!! Be the first to win the money and trophy or plaque!! So get off your duff and contribute. Setting up a separate fund, but right now send 1/2 or all to me at my PayPal, we have record then etc. PayPal is  bent8791@bellsouth.net
Want your real name or moniker , you will be recognized. Hope to grow this, so give and give input, POP'S,  we met your challenge,  without more participation,  I'm on the hook for $1050.00. Well didn't take me long to decide, no risk, no gain! Some names are definitely missing from our list that should be there, damn, do it for Sam, we ain't forgot you Sam!!! Enough for now, working on logo, etc. Thanks to all who helped with this, it means a lot to honor Sam  and get more participants! Thanks,  Bill  ;D

Pops challenged all of the sohc racers to put up or shut up. He posted his own bonus but that stays separate from what the rest of us are doing. He'll work that out with the winner himself. Right now we've got to seize the concept that Pops put out there ourselves and make this thing work for us. Billy made contact with one potential sponsor and intends to shop it around to others for contributions but we cannot count on others. We've got to band together guys and boost the monetary incentive to get more SOHC bikes on the drag strip and in competition at the Man Cup races. Remember, the Man Cup already has a purse that's paid out to the winner of street ET. What's been proposed here is a separate deal on top of the organizations purse. Bonus money and contingency money is hard to come by so lets take advantage of this opportunity to grow the SOHC drag bike community.

Bill, look for my initial contribution to be posted to pay pal later tonight. I intend to add more before the event.

Bill,

Check your Pay Pal account. I was away at a work conference and then left immediately upon my return for the IHRA Div. 2 bracket finals. Didn't have time to send the funds until now.

POP'S,  once Sam moved the original, which you can access in the first post on this thread, he can't move your thread back, so he did what he could, but you deserve recognition for the start up. Though it would be nice if you got the credit for starting it in the title of this thread, Bill

I will change my offer for 2016 = if you win ST/ET on a SOHC 750 based bike I will buy you a CYCLE X lock up system # ENL-013 that costs $449 , if you win on a 750A HONDAMATIC then you get 5 - $100 bills in your hands. Looks like CHAD [ BIG SMILE ] might get out that $20,000 WINNER MATIC that the Klemmes and Insley brought to many IDBA and PRO-STAR races for that cash in the hand = with his BIG SMILE ......
THIS IS NOT HUMOR, LIKE WAS MISS STATED LAST YEAR = THIS IS REAL

Thanks again Pops for giving us incentive to step up our race game. Hopefully one if us will succeed in reaching the winners circle . Our man Bill will have two opportunities to pull off a winning performance in the hand clutch and auto categories. The season will be upon us before you know it so anyone that plans to race in the street ET class should start working fast.

Dude, I'm stating publically that I'm proud of all the effort you're putting forth in these SOHC bikes to bring them back into view of this current racing crowd. You and Sam even gave me incentive to race my F model even more. I was only pulling it out for small, local events. I never gave much thought to running it on a National series again let alone converting it back into a street ET bike. I will say its been lots of fun hanging out with you guys and expanding my base of forum friends here at Sohc.net. And funny, I never thought I'd be going this slow again and truly enjoying it. Odd thing to get mid to high,  7 second time slips and then going back to mid tens and still feeling the same rush when the win light comes on in your lane.

Its your year Bill. Show us how its done brother!!!

I bought a 650cc V-TWIN HAWK to get in the smallest class and be a HARLEY KILLER = Debbie  Kniebel from NC race 650CC LC HAWK at PRO-STAR and won many rounds and races, she moved up to a 8.90 Suzuki but I have not seen her in a long time. FRANK in 10's you half to know her she from your neck of the woods ?
Bill MWS show the folks and George the advantage of having your lock up system on a high powered COBRA SOHC 750CC based bike.

FRANK in 10's : Will be sending you pictures of that swing arm. Got that 1989 NT 650 HAWK GT [ LIKE NEW ] will get it set up with elec. foot shifter, rev limiter, maybe a sneaky 2 step, shift light, MPS kill switch lanyard, I'll pay to run in V-TWIN CLASS with a light rider like YOU.......... Lets see ST/ET , CRAZY 8'S, S/EL record holder and a HARLEY V-TWIN KILLER class winner = you would be tired and lighter at the end of the day. Donnie Haufman from Flordia in the V-TWIN CLASS on a HARLEY is the man to beat = I know him from the AHDRA events I worked at in 2001 = he still racing that same bike, deadly. What a day at the track = shut the Harleys down on a HONDA in V-TWIN, shut those KZ triples down in S/EL on a HONDA and you be the MAN !!!!!!

Yes, Cobra motor will have the lockup I'd think, Bill

If you do use it Billy, no bob weights, or you will tear the bolt mounts out of the base plate.

Cheers,
Brian

Alright Pops, I'm going to call you out on your offer. Bring the Hawk set up as you described and I'll throw a leg over in the v twin class. I still remember how to launch a short bike and foot shift. We're after the win slip, nothing else matters.

I've been known to run 4 classes in the past. Im limited now due to lack of space in the trailer for another bike or  i'd be in every class i could. Lol. The racers I hang with always wonder how I can jump from one bike to the next without much effort.  Having the wife there to help prep the bikes between rounds makes a huge difference in being able to keep up.

Let me know which race you intend to bring the bike and I'll put my game face on. All else fail with me, you can put Teaseley on it.

BILL MWS : With that lockup and the COBRA motor your 60' time will be with your back wheel = as your front wheel will be at 70 degrees angle to the track wheeling out in first gear, no bars up you GO !!!!  Better get some side pictures of "LIFT OFF " when this fine tuned bike makes a PASS. Hell with that monster you could run with the STUNT BOYS dragging that tail section = bet they never seen a old SOHC 750 do that trick !!!!!!

Pops,

That's a nice offer, just like your previous one.  I'm not sure the average Street ET bracket racer would be interested in a lock up clutch as a prize though.  With Street ET's rule restrictions, a lock up isn't too helpful for a dot tire, no bar, no two step bike on 100hp or less.

Nice deal getting Frankie to ride your V twin.  Cool.

George

Pops,

I tried my luck at stunting the last Cup race. Not much my style though. Stock clutch in my bike seems to work just fine with heavy duty springs. I doubt a lockup will help much. But then I don't have as much horsepower as Bill.

Yes that is a great offer POPS, but If I had just won a Street ET race, I wouldn't be looking to change my setup. Lol

Frank As always good words of advice, With any of these bikes (short turbo or nitrous) a solid setup like yours is all the is needed. These engines at best are 120HP ish, by many standards that's not real demanding.
