I have lost all of my grandparents, my parents and only have one uncle and one aunt left. I now find myself coming to the front of a line that was full when I joined it. Of them all, my memories of my grandfather are the dearest and come to me often most probably because he worked to build those memories.
Time is short. Make sure you do it right the first time. Invest in memories because when the pain of the physical separation finally goes away, the person moves into your heart and being through the memories you built together.
For my birthday and Christmas, I always ask for my kids to do something with me that we will always have to remember. As they enter their adult years, it is more difficult but they know the value of their childhood memories because, like my grandfather, I have worked to build them.
Do whatever it takes and go now to build those memories. You will find Peace.
