This bike still looks like a BOTM winner!
I fully agree with you.
I nominate the bike (and owner) for BOTM!

I got the diecast out for a ride today, I went to help a friend wire a relay onto his 52 chevy pickup.
It turns out he had an award winning chopper shop once. He was even invited to do a biker build off, the problem was he didn't have the $150K he needed to build the bike. I saw the trophies, magazine covers and the pictures.

I dug through the shock tote and pulled out a set of bent shaft, aluminum top end shocks with 3 position adjusters. I pressed them apart and removed all of the accessories. Later this winter I'll check out the repro Z1 Sandcast shocks to see if I can swap the 5 position adjusters off of them.
My guess is those old shocks had been mounted on lowering blocks.

I stumbled across this pic of the red sandcast and his brothers this evening. I resolved to get it over 10,000 miles this year.

Gold is almost all original except the paint, seat and exhaust, Blue-Green was totally gone through by me. I repaired the frame and built the 836, it still has a no number diecast engine waiting for a rebuild.
The red sandcast was assembled new by a friend Charlie that runs a mom-and-pop bike shop, the week before he left for Vietnam. It was bought new by Gene, a guy my brother knew, I saw him at work from time to time. A good friend was buddies with his son and grew up at his house, Gene passed and then my old Honda guru Tom owned it. He didn't title it or get it running. I used to take pictures of the cable and wiring routing for my blue green bike assembly. ALS took Tom from us, and I bought it at his estate sale. Later, his family offered to sell me the drag bike and I got it too.

Yes and no, the airbox and sidecovers were painted, the rest is original. The PO's son was riding it to school and one day he pulled the motor and had a few parts chromed.  The Dad had a cow and once it was back together neither one ever rode it again. After the Dad passed away, the Mom asked the son if he wanted it and the sour grapes made him say no. My buddy that had always serviced it bought it for $500 and then let it sit in the "Big 4 Bike Shop" until he was gone and I ended up with it.

Really nice bunch of bikes.
Sell them $$$$$$ or keep them must be a dilemma.
Stock early CB750's are very attractive for many.

Thanks, I got the Red Sandcast shortly after retirement, I retired to begin a next career, but Government political infighting kept the job from happening. I wasn't sure at the time that I could afford to even keep it. It was weeks before I wiped the grunge off of it, I thought I might sell it at auction as a barn find. It looked really bad but the filth was just garage dirt sticking to WD40 and Blue Coral Wax.
It's a shame the family tried to pull off the side covers before the sale. They had a lovely fade.
