Hi guys, I'm pretty new here as I just picked up this bike recently and have started to work on it. Right now the bike isn't running so I thought I would come here to see what you guys would recommend to get it started. Here's my current situation:

1) It looks like the original owner deleted the electric start. The starter motor has been taken out (I have a spare), same with right switches, can't find the starter motor safety unit or solenoid.

2) Carbs have not been rejetted and are running pods (I know :-\)

3) Pulled the two outer spark plugs and they looked to be slightly covered in oil, not scorched or yellow

These are the major issues I see with it so far....I'm hoping that the wiring hasn't been tampered with or done wrong. The guy I bought it from says he rode it a year ago before putting it up in the garage. He seemed to be an honest guy but who knows with CL guys.

Right now my plan is to first change the plugs out, put in a new battery, and see if it cranks up. Any help/advice from you guys would be very welcomed!  :)

PS: Is there an easy way to remove the middle two plugs? I'm having troubles with this. Bike here: http://i.imgur.com/Dhs8pNy.jpg

the OEM plug tool easily will get the 2/3 plugs out.  they are readily available online.
Before startup, please download the honda shop manual for your bike.

read and complete as much of the 3000mi periodic maintenance items, and, find an original airbox on ebay or from another member in the parts for sale section of the forum.  it'll make life sooo much easier while you are trying to get this bike back on the road.  Much easier than rejetting.

Before a first run of a new to me bike, i'd want to thoroughly clean the carbs, go thru valve adjustment, cam chain adjustment, timing/advance, new batt, get an airbox on there, and a new set of NGK D8EA plugs, at a minimum....
Id be surprised if it didnt fire ;)

take back your iridiums, and get 2-3 sets of standard D8EA's (you'll need them)
3x the cost with no added benefit on these older bikes

The RIGHT plugs for the bike are NGK D8EA, not DR8EIX

Ok, picked up the right plugs per your recommendations.

What is the housing called on the right handle bar where throttle cables go into? The housing on mine is cracked and cables are not responding well....need to replace. Thanks!.

EDIT: Never mind, just realized that it's part of the throttle handle....will be replacing the whole thing

Most of the screws on left side of the bike are stripped and need to be pulled. Anyone know of a place where I can get replacements at a good price? Thanks!

Using a JIS bit on an impact wrench will prevent stripping ones that arent already messed up.
Its good to have one of these.

All the (metric) sizing is listed in the parts fiche.  you can get screws anywhere, really.  boltdepot.com is a good supplier.
there are many 'kit' suppliers for replacement allen bolts for these bikes.
I got mine from this supplier.  good product.

Is there a good way to clean up the rust and polish the carbs? I was going through them this weekend and noticed some rust (bad accelerator pump) and patina. Would like to get some good tips on cleaning/polishing.

Also, I'll need to get a new master cylinder and ignition switch assembly. Does anyone know of a good place to get these without breaking the bank? I've seen some on eBay but I think they're way over priced (>$100 for used originals)

4into1 has a replica kawa master cyl for $50 but not sure if I need a 14mm or 15.8mm.....I believe I still have the standard caliper on the bike.

Alloyboltz.com has a good allen key set for this, everything is packaged by what it secures, and the set is fairly cheap too!  You can use a hammer and chisel to remove most screws once you get the replacements.  Make sure you have a sharp chisel and use it to walk the screws out by turning them with the chisel (dig it into the outside of the screw head).
