1977 CB750 F2 cockpit rebuild
« on: September 18, 2015, 01:19:27 PM »
Hi, new to this forum and just starting a winter project to clean up the handle bar area on my 1977 CB750F2.
 - The bar itself has no chrome left and is pretty rusty, intending to buy a replacement
 - The clutch lever is busted (courtesty of a kind lady who backed into my bike with her SUV while it was parked on the street and sent it flying) and needs replaced,
 - The clutch side switch-gear works but the plastic is faded
 - The center triangular plastic over the warning light cluster is cracked and broken and needs replaced
 - The brake side hardware is faded, and although the master cylinder has been rebuilt with a kit, I'm thinking of replacing it as well, and giving myself a new cockpit all over.

I've some money from the insurance settlement, so I'm more in a "replace/upgrade" mode  than I'm in a "try to fix stuff up" mode.

Questions:
 - Source for the plastic cover for the warning light cluster. Can't seem to find that anywhere
 - Source for a replacement master-cylinder / lever set up.  I can find replacement m/c's but they are all for single disk versions of the CB750. The 1977 F2 came with 2 front disks as standard, so I'm assuming needs a bigger better master to drive them. Ideally I want something with a bit more "feel" and "stopping power" as promised by the 5/8" custom replacement units, but I can't get an answer from the supplier if they work with dual disks or not.   I'm not adverse to a "tasteful" modern replacement, doesn't have to be period. Brembo quite acceptable ;-)

Thanks !  Riona
