Wanted to share my last project here.
This forum has been a great source of information in completing this project.
It started as your typical $200.00 non-running, non-titled 1972 CB500 basket case project.
1 year and several thousand dollars later, this is what I have.
CB500-4 lower end, CB550 barrel- bored to 61.5mm, using the crusinimage e-bay piston kit for 605 cc. the original CB500 head is ported (by myself) and all new valves installed, along with the head being milled .040. CB650 cam
All new cam chain, primary drive chain (original was rubbing the case), all new valve adjusting studs and lock nuts.
79 CB650 PD50B carbs rebuilt and rejetted, new intake rubbers and clamps.
The exhaust was custom fabricated (by myself) and has mufflers/ baffles built into the straight pipe sections under the engine.
E-bay clip-on’s and rear-sets custom installed.
Wheels and hubs powder coated and new spokes- new tires and tubes
Front and rear brakes rebuilt
79 cb650 gages custom installed and LED indicator lights installed in the tach (to replace the original idiot lights). Fabricated headlight mounts to lower the assembly. All new cables.
Dime City tail section modified (made longer in the seat area) to fit the 500 frame better. Custom seat pad.
Custom side cover/ number plates (graphics to be finished)
The bike runs very good and is a blast to drive.
Would be glad to answer any questions on the build.
Thanks for looking.
