Coatings on CB350K1 engine 1969
« on: December 16, 2014, 12:10:36 PM »
Anyone know what the correct original finishes are on the '69 CB350K1. Looks like many parts polished alloy then clear coat (Like the cam bearing covers, top crankcase etc). Anyone know for sure?

cheers .... AshD ... UK

I have a NOS cover that is painted.
I have another that does not appear to have been painted.
If you look up front by the oil slinger cover,  there is an oil passage bump in the case, it is on theneeds under side.  Hold cover with kicker on left, look at it from the bottom. The bulge for the oil passage, does the outer end appear rounded, or run toward back of the case, at about a 40 degree angle.
If its angled, then I conclude that the one I have is factory painted.

my 72' CB350 twin has painted cases and clutch cover.

I've been using Duplicolor engine enamel high heat paint #DE1615 'aluminum' w/ #DE1612 gray base primer engine enamel heat paint as a great match to factory engine coatings.

Found a UK supplier now for this now. Does the primer adhere OK to bare alloy?
