- Are the outer diameter of big bore sleeves made according to a standard?
I have an old cylinder with a very old Henry Abe 900cc Big bore kit with tapered sleeves, no need of case bore. Probably from early 70's.

I intend to replace the sleeves with new, also tapered and 67mm pistons, Dynoman 890 kit. Can I be sure that new sleeves will fit? They might be just too small, right?  (Tight crimp fit for perfect  heat transportation to cylinder.)

- Possible to measure when fitted?

I also have 2 spare 900 size sleeves I picked up from CycleX I can check for you. Don't think they have the taper but I have not looked at them in a long time.

This might be some useless information, however, these are the specs on the LA Sleeves.
These aren't precision measurements but will be ok for comparison.
Ken at Cyclex gave me 3 of these years ago and LA Sleeve supplied the 4th one.
No case boring is required with these.

If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

Thank you very much guys!
I'm not really sure which bore I'll go for.  890 with tapered sleeves make it easier to fit, no need of case boring. Possible to rebore and fit 67.5mm pistons.
The cases will be taken apart anyway (Ultra crank going in) so case bore is not a huge extra. Will 915 or 970 give much extra power compared with 890?

The HA sleeves are most likely as Bill measured 74.25mm. CycleX tapered sleeves are 74mm. Dynomans might be same. I must go bigger if using the old 900 cylinder. Bigger is 74.5mm...
The tuning domino effect strikes again!

OK, quick measurement. The 2 that I got from Kenny ARE tapered. 70mm OD at the taper. 73mm OD under the lip (slight recess). 74.2mm OD center. 64mm ID. Thickness 5mm. Disclaimer: Cheap caliper. No markings.

The sellers write "tapered" :) CycleX, Dynoman.

I measured the gap between the under slimmer part of sleeves today. 1.5mm drill could be pressed in. 2mm was way too big.
This means that the hole in cylinder diam is 73mm on this side. 70+(1.5x2)=73mm
Like Jerry's... If the cylinder is bored in steps to fit the sleeves

73mm sleeves with 67/67.5mm inner was made back in the 70's?

It should be easier to remove a sleeve and see. But this will my local tuner do, until theen I need a piston + sleeve kit.
Not too small is the deal for now.
Special installing measures from 70mm pistons (970cc) when bore will make holes between 1-2, 3-4..., right?
915 is the biggest sleeves without any oil leak risk to weld/seal?

CycleX sold 970cc cylinder 2 weeks ago on eBay... pity that I'm planning late.. 11:1 to fit my head would be fine

Little bit of the topic. To what diameter to bore sleeves for wiseco 836 kit?

836 is 65mm.
But it must be correct according to Wiseco spec and piston diameter for correct clearance

I know pistons are 65mm ;) But what clearance is recommended between piston and sleeve? Should I measure each piston with micrometer and bore each sleeve according to those measurements?

.002 is the clearance spec for weisco 836,big jay has run them tighter, like 15,and you must fit each piston to its bore to account for any variance in diameter.billp

Do not try to size without pistons.  Usually you leave 2-4 thou for honing, you may he safe boring to .003-.004; under nomnal size.
