Topic: 750 tank emblems? Whats the Deal Here?

Is the difference in the tank emblems the texture on the white part.My 75 has smooth but the tank i have on there now is textured.I think its a earlier model tank and emblems?I want to replace the emblems with actual 75 ones,Am i correct on the difference with the white part?

Differences I have noticed are the white vs. black lettering, but also the shape of the upper and lower edges. On the earlier tank emblems, the upper/lower edges seemed to conform to the lettering more, whereas the later ones had straighter upper/lower edges. Maybe it was less costly to make them straight.

As I understand it up through 72 the back conforms to the letters whereas afterward the backing does not conform and slants down to the bottom on the A.  Don't know about the paint.

New ones are still available from Honda. I tried painting the white..looked like crap. Tried using address labels and cutting with an xacto knife...looked better. How bad do you want them? They are $36 EACH.

The correct tank emblems for your bike (K5) will look like the ones in the first photo.

The current replacement emblems from Honda are seen in the second photo. (close but not truly correct)
