I have a CB450 and I shrunk the battery from a YB12A-A 12ah 180cca to a YB7C-A 8ah 110cca the result is just barely having enough power to start it. any smaller and I would be out of luck.
After spending about $500 on lithium batteries and all of them breaking I now use a cheap Walmart battery. Still working after a couple years.http://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-ES4LBS-Premium-Power-Sport-Battery/16795219The shorai looks like the same size so it should crank it over.

If not, what is the minimum battery requirements to retain the electric start? What pros/cons should I consider when trying to minimize the footprint of my battery while keeping electric start functioning? That Shorai is used by many, successfully I might add. The Amp/HR rating is as important if not more given the anemic charging systems in these bikes. To electric start, about 100 cranking might do it. But the stock battery was 12 Amp/HR, the unit you listed is 14.
