Just got home from the bar  ;) and getting the 450.
The thing is C L E A N ! Their are a few issues that need to be addressed (as in any new purchase) , but nothing serious.
The paint is a heavy green metallic, with the factory gold stripe and badges (all in good shape minus one little dent).
The bike runs - but needs some carb work and a new petcock/fuel line. The front brakes are gonna be replaced with a modern
master and stainless lines/cross drilled rotor.

Needles to say I am pumped about the new purchase, and Dragman has come thru for me again.
He still has TONS of CB related parts, so please don't hesitate to get ahold of him for whatever you might need...

I betcha that scoot is a blast to tear around on - very cool...

Here's some pics I snapped this morning (crappy camera :-\) of the bike in the ol' garage.
Needs a list of "tune-up' stuff done to it, and I need to figure out that the minute i let off the gas it dies.
Besides one small dent on the top of the tank - the bodywork is kickass and screams "vintage"...

1st thing - I need a seat  ;D

As you requested , the first pic of the new project ----->

That bike looks way too nice to "customise".  :o

My thoughts too. The ones I'm gonna build were picked up at a salvage and would take
quite a bit to get back to looking that good. If I were to do anything to that one, I'd keep it
to where it could be put back to original. Just my 2-cents worth and I say that cause the value
looks to be starting to go up on those. Might be something to keep in mind. ;)

                                                         Later on, Bill

I have to echo these thoughts, far too good to customize, the 450 is one of my classic wants.

I hear ya..
Due to the fact this bike is in such good shape, I am gonna just do a few small things to it and ride/enjoy it.
Mainly lower the hell outta it - some sorta cafe/bump seat, clip-on bars - exhaust- and other little things here & their. The factory tank is staying the way it is cause i love the color, pull the airfilter in place for some v-stakcs-etc..

Will post some better pics of it tomorrow in the Chicago sun (if it comes out)..

If you find any more like that mate, send 'em to me, that bike, in such original condition would go for $3K plus here in Oz! Keep all the original parts that you remove from it, it'll always be worth more to a collector as an original bike, than as a "custom". Cheers, Terry.  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

helluva score PT.  I would have thought it might be hard for you to tear into something that already looks so good, but look the seat is already MIA.  I have gotta say i am as green as that beautiful dohc, you say you want a medium twin and a week later you produce this gem, can you send me the next 450 (or 360T) you find in my area Jeff?
honestly i am happy this bike has found its way to someone that is going to treat it right.
all it really needs is a gold frame  ;D

Well, I know of a cb360 that I could probably get hella cheap. I only took a quick look at it, but the tank looks superb, and I think the seat was in decent shape. I'm going off memory though, so I may not be completely accurate. Only thing though is it's missing part of the rear end... Maybe just the wheel, maybe the swingarm too... can't remember.

It's in NW WI. If anyone is interested, PM me and I can try to get more details.

Thanks for all the positive words on the new score.
I huge thanks goes out to DRAGMAN DENNIS for letting me know he has this gem for sale, and basically
giving it away.

I would of worked on it today , but i got a killer cold and slept the day away.
Prob. gonna do the same thing tomorrow, but i need to start ordering some parts to get this thing going.
New petcock was ordered today from the dealer - need to order some short shocks and a seat first, then the "fun" begins...

Stay tuned... ;D
Here's two more pics I snapped this morning (before the illness got to me)...

Pull off the gauges and dip the rest in rhino liner!  just kidding. Gotta agree- I also am glad you will leave it largely original. Beautiful bike.

Who said anything about cutting it up ?
My CB750 is my "sawzall" bike  ;)
Everything I plan on doing to this bike is gonna be reversible to the next owner (if they choose)..
Cafe seat - rearsets - clip-on bars - etc...

Don't take offence at this but the top pic without the seat and at that angle it kinda looks harley sportsterish, although from the dirt on the tyre it obviously thinks it's an off roader!!!!  ;)

Nice tank though that's definately a keeper... gorge paint job! How did someone manage to chip the inside edge of the clock surround??!!

Progress on the CB450 thus far :

1. Minor surface rust sanded/neautralized and painted (looks really good I must say)
2. Front-end lowered 1 1/2'' or so (had to do it  ;D)
3. Rear passenger pegs removed
4. Rear fender/grab rail/ and turn signals removed
5. Chain guard removed
6. Rear shocks removed (11'' short shocks orderd to replace)

Project is moving right along, minus me having ANY luck finding a cafe/bump style seat that will work
with the stock style hindges & key lock... ::)

I don't know much, but I'd bet you'd have the best luck finding a stock seat, then redoing the foam into the shape you want and and then give it a recover. Either that or fabricate something yourself.

4. .....turn signals removed

be careful if you put clubman bars on the bike.

i put some adjustable clubman bars on mine, and took off the turns signals.  when i took my left hand off the handlebar to signal a turn, the bike was seriously  :o wobbly.

if your weight remains on your rear end, it might be ok, but if you use clubman bars that transfer weight to your hands, you might want to consider some discrete turn signals.

I am putting clip-on bars on this project, just like I did my CB750.
I have never been a fan of clubman bars on these bikes, or any bike come to think of it.
As far as the signals go,I am replacing the softball sized stock signals with LED units that are much smaller, so no need for hand signals on this ride.

As far as the seat goes, I think I am just gonna order a "universal" fiberglass seatpan and make it work. It cant be that
hard to fab up some hinges to adapt to the stock mounting points...
