Lets hope the CB750 add will bring lots of cash. All CB750 restoring guys knows it's very cheap with 16K

I was hoping some flipper would jump on it, but so far, all I've got is vultures wanting to charge me money to advertise it elsewhere. When I find the time, I'll do that myself ;)

Patience. Rafi... It takes patience to build a bike like that,  and patience to sell it.. Takes a while to finfld the right buyer.
Did you run an ad in VJMC?  Or let them know you are selling?

Rafi, ever thought of trying ebay?  That is 100% an EBAY bike, you'll get more for it than you ever would on craigslist.  Ebay also doesn't charge you a percentage on a bike sale, it tops out at a maximum ($200 I think when I sold my last one on ebay).

If that doesn't work, try painting the carb bowls gold.

But - if the Cubs win the World Series, then that also means the world is coming to a fiery end.  So the 20K won't do you any good.

@Frank: Working on the VJMC ad, but reached out to Vic's world and a couple local Honda Powersports places as others have recommended.

@James: I'm trying to avoid having to ship it, I'd rather have the buyer take it away. Also, I have no experience with ebay and I couldn't find a fee calculator for motorcycle listings on their site. Fees are quite high when I tried it as an antique but that could just be wrong.

I took it out on a 76mile solo ride today, longest one yet. Had to update the CL ad text a little too. Maybe 1 or 2 more good days left where the weather will be as good as it was today and I have free time. Its definitely a keeper, but a lot of unknowns as of right now so I can't quite convince myself to keep it. Definitely a life lesson learnt on this one, the K3 will be slow, well managed and possibly out a couple years :(

Yes, if you are trying to avoid shipping it, well that is essentially going to be what happens when you sell it on ebay (de facto).  You sell it, then someone comes and takes it away, just what you wanted.  However, the person taking it is shipping it to the buyer, you do absolutely nothing.  Buyer arranges shipping and a guy picks it up probably within days.  In your ad you simply select "buyer arranges shipping," and that's that.

The fee structure is totally different in ebay motors, don't take my word for it, do some research.  I know you are reluctant to sell something through ebay and think it's going to be a whole thing, but it's not.  You are unlikely to ever get top dollar on craigslist but premium items on ebay get top dollar.  Set a reserve price if it makes you feel more comfortable.

From ebay:  "There's no additional fee charged on the actual sale of the vehicle after it sells."  (Source:  http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/motorfees.html)

Your bike would fall into >$2000 final sale price so the total price of listing it on ebay would be $125.

harisuluv,

If I recall correctly, the fee for listing is only collected if the item sells.
I may be wrong and/or they may have changed it, but the last time I listed an item, that's the way it was.

You would be wrong. Listing fee is charged whether it sells or not. I recently didn't resist an item I have there because it is just racking up listing fees on an inexpensive item ($15) that didn't sell the first 4 listings. They hit you with a "Final Value" fee when it sells.

Here are the way fees are calculated for motorcycles sold on eBay.  Source:  eBay Motors fee page http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/motorfees.html

How fees are calculated

Basic fees
Insertion fee
You may be charged a listing (or insertion) fee for listing a vehicle. If applicable, you're charged one insertion fee per listing.
Successful listing fee
If your vehicle sells, you may be charged a successful listing fee if:
You receive a bid on an auction-style listing without a reserve price
You receive a bid that meets your reserve price on an auction-style listing with a reserve price
A buyer clicks Buy It Now in a listing offering a fixed price
You accept a Best Offer
The amount of the successful listing fee depends on if you're a low- or high-volume seller, and the vehicle price.

The vehicle price is the final bid amount, Buy It Now price, or accepted Best Offer.

There's no additional fee charged on the actual sale of the vehicle after it sells. However, you'll be charged a successful listing fee regardless of whether you carry out the sale with the buyer.

Optional Fees
Advanced listing upgrade fees
If you add advanced listing upgrades to your listing, fees apply.
Supplemental service fees
If you use supplemental services, charges associated with these services may be included on your seller invoice as fees.

VJMC can get you huge exposure if you can get it into next issue..

Especially since his bike was just in the current issue of the magazine as an 8-page feature spread.  Getting it into the ads of the next issue should definitely help with exposure for selling.  Unfortunately, that means a 2-month wait since their issues are bi-monthly.

"Insertion fee" always reminds me of prostitutes.  Of course, I guess we're not that far off . . .

The insertion fee would apply for "high volume sellers."  Riff hasn't even sold a bike on ebay before, so I don't think that fee would apply to him.

I have sold a bike on eBay before I don't recall a insertion fee.

If it doesn't sell for 16k on EBay then it won't sell anywhere else for that price unless someone has money to burn which is far and few between.
