Quick carb question
« on: October 09, 2015, 07:34:42 AM »
Hey guys, here I am with yet another question.  So the bike I bought is a 77 CB550K but the vin on my engine shows it's from a 74 CB550K.  The carbs on the bike are the PD46A's that would come on the 77-78 CB550.  Are there any differences between the engines from 74 and 77 that would cause me issues with running these carbs or should I be fine with PD46A's?  Reason I ask, when I was cleaning the carbs on the bike I noticed that where the emulsion tubes screw in, peices of threading were broken off of the actual carb body.  Emulsion tubes still screwed in snug but not quite sure if I'll have issues down the road.  I might try to hunt down a set of carb bodies that are in better over-all shape.  Thanks

The motors are basicly the same, the barbs and exhaust is different.
So, depending on what exhaust you are running, you may need to rejet.

Right now it's got some horrible rusty straight pipes with no mufflers.  I'm either going to try and source a cheap stockish exhaust, or grab one of the mac 4 into 1 exhausts.
