Aren't skateboards made from wood?

I made two seats, one with a pan of fiberglass and one steel. I don't really notice a difference. You can pop rivet the leather or vinyl easy on either one. You can get fiberglass to mold to your frame easier...maybe that's a deciding factor?

My stock seat pan is good except the lower edge is rusted all around the perimeter where water gathered from the torn seat. I'm considering modifying the stock steel pan, narrowing it to frame width and loosing the rear "ducktail"(for a lack of a better term). I like this because the front works and blends with the stock tank so well. Plus the stock mounting rubbers and standoffs work well. Lock and hinge will be gone.

I REALLY like the BlackSquare bike minus some of the bling and side covers...great looking seat, maybe a bit more padding. :) http://blacksquaremotorcycle.com/

...maybe the direct link will work> http://blacksquaremotorcycle.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/MAKING-A-CUSTOM-SEAT-FULL-DESCRIPTION.pdf

If not go here> http://blacksquaremotorcycle.com/the_build/ and type "SEAT" in the search it will get you to> MAKING A CUSTOM SEAT. Good article..

I personally feel more confident working with sheet metal.  Forming fiberglass is much more time consuming imo.

I find 18 gauge sheet metal easy to work with. Less time consuming vs fiberglass

Ya a skate board won't work and I think fiberglass would be easier for me. But I have a welder and would rather use metal. It will be a brat seat but I'm not cutting anything stock off so I want to keep the hinge and lock and the hump in the back will stay. Maybe keeps rockstar and recovering it after taking some foam off would be best
