What safety gear do you ride in
« on: October 15, 2015, 08:15:25 AM »
After commenting on a thread involving helmets it got me thinking.  What safety gear is everyone wearing?  I have a few different sets for different weather.  Summer I wear a speed and strength jacket a pair of Magnum combat boots and a iv2 modular helmet, winter consists of full leathers and wool Pants with the same helmet.  I also have a spare set using a shoie fullface helmet firstgear jacket and a pair of canvas side combat boots.

Rev'it Sand (full armor) textile jacket and pants
Dainese Four Stroke EVO or Race gloves
Sidi Vertebra2 boots
Puma short motorcycle boots

Tractor Supply or Duluth Trading Co both offer work pants made from fire hose material and offer them with doubled up knees.  I'm thinking about upgrading my jeans for these as they should be tougher.  Maybe extend that 7 seconds to 10....

I have a pair of Duluth firehose too, but double fronted logger's jeans are superior.  Like these:

Seven Zero Seven full-faced helmet
Fieldsheer armored mesh jacket in summer or warmer weather (40 degrees above)
Joe Rocket alter ego textile armored jacket (winter and late fall/early spring below 40 degrees)
Joe Rocket Alter Ego textile pants
Steel Toe work Boots (I will buy moto specific boots sometime soon I swear)
Revit gloves for 40 degree above riding
I forget the other gloves but they are for below 40 degrees
Smith Optics sliders sunglasses so I can change out lenses depending on the light and they fit in my helmet

Bell full face helmet
Armored riding jacket
Blue jeans
Steel toed shoes
Leather gloves
Bifocal safety sunglasses in daytime.

However when riding my GL1100 interstate wearing a jacket becomes an issue on warm days, it's fairing does such an effective job blocking the wind that wearing either of my riding jackets can be a real problem. I'm looking to get an armored mesh type jacket to give me more ventilation.

Depends on the weather, but for Fall, Winter, and Spring generally it's Shoei RF1200, BMW all-weather jacket, Diamond Gusset Defenders, First Gear overpants, Sidi all-weather boots, gauntleted deerskin gloves.

In the summer I'll switch out to a Fox Creek leather jacket and ditch the overpants.

I never ride without all the gear.

Great idea and I'm now looking for one the problem now is finding one that I know will work with the contour of my windshield, they're available I just have to find the right one. The windshield on mine cost me around $175 and I don't want to screw it up by cutting a hole in it for a vent that wont fit right.  :o
