Mine will be close, but nicer. And no stinking dropped clip-ons. Super bike bars for me  As a matter of fact, I picked up my lightened and rebalanced crank, milled flywheel and clutch plates today from the machine shop. At the rate I'm going, mine will be on the street before your K1

Just in case you are curious, here's some "Befores" and "During" since a good deal of this will be internal:

Tank ready for bodywork and paint


Flywheel before milling (took 15oz out of it)


Tearing down the motor:



Cases back from powder coat (wrinkle black finish)




New Wossner forged pistons, (.50 over) back from being coated



New Kibblewhite valves, Serdi cut, head treated with thermal dispersion coating



I haven't unwrapped the crank and other drivetrain bits to photo them yet, as I am not planning a build thread on this bike. But I have changed 5th gear to a bit more torque for less highway gearing. Carbs have been bored just a touch, and swing arm is already modified and awaiting a few final frame mods before going off to be powder coated.

This bike actually has come together much more easily than any of the CBs I've done as it was a 1-Owner, no rust, and full teardown took about 1:45 from start to "pile of parts".

Have you coined a new phrase for the "cafe" bikes are a hack and dress up with no real changes mechanical other than minimum to make 'em run as a "cosmetician cafe bike"?
Their "builders" can be known as cosmeticians.

Funny thing is unless there is an appraisal by someone who knows anything... most insurance companies who want photos are merely looking at cosmetics also...

That my office, Jim. Sometimes referred to as my parts stash too given the shelves of booty set aside waiting for assembly and installation. I need to start carrying inventory insurance

Replacement insurance at least and a remote backup copy of inventory & receipts in case of theft or fire.
cloud based or remote backup drive in a secure site that won't go up with the house..

'Fraid I'm not a fan either Duster, but I'm far too practical a person to be inspired by those types of mods.  Although I think BMW would do themselves a favor by simplifying their bikes a bit.

That wasn't a monsoon, it was just a small deluge in VA.
They have seasonal heavy rains it the SW and Florida has them around Orlando. But, that hurricane related rain was merely a deluge as a result of the hurricane offshore.
Monsoon actually only occurs in SE Asia.

I guess I learned to ride with both hands on the bars at all times. I often wonder how people operate a camera while riding and take such good pictures.
