Halloween = Scoot on ground
« on: November 01, 2006, 09:29:49 AM »
Came outide this morning to notice my bike had been knocked over onto its left side.
Picked it up, and noticed that I can no longer change gears.
Guess that'll be one for the tech forum.
Anyway, I'm pissed.
No.

Bastards. Sorry to hear that. I'm all for "hooliganism" at Halloween, but not when it actually damages property. Why do people think that kind of crap is amusing? Soaping windows or a flaming bag of poo is one thing, but...  >:(

Dude, I'd be PISSED also.  Crap like that just kills me.  Three years ago some punk shot out the back windows of several cars in my neighborhood.  My car happened to be one of them.  It still pisses me off to think about it.  My wife nicknamed me "Charles Bronson" or “Deathwish” for a few weeks because I sought vigilante justice!

Yeah, I have done some stupid stuff and continue to do so, but I never damaged someone's property.  There is a little thing called RESPECT, and some people (kids) don't have much.  It is pretty sad.

Believe me I did allot of 'stupid" things when I was younger, but i would never
key a car/push over a bike just for the hell of it..

At risk of (continuing) to sound like a GHOF, you guys are right. When I was young we had a lot more respect for people and property than the kids seem to have now. And I cannot put my finger on why it should be.......... more dysfunctional families? More single parent families? Less 'control' in the school environment?

all of the above,it comes from schools having no disciplinary contol over the kids anymore.when i was a kid if i got spanked in school,i got spanked when i got home.now if it happens the school get sued.

beating a kid will only make them want to push over large objects when no one is looking.  i would do things with shaving cream that i am already ashamed of only a decade later, a bag of #$%* on the doorstep of someone who needed to know what it feels like to wipe the #$%* of his shoes was not beyond me... but i wouldn't vandalize something that couldnt just be hosed off and never to random strangers- except one time when a friend and i stole several baby jesi from nativity scenes across an entire county.  that made the paper, but it didnt make anyone have to fix their bike.  by a new baby jesus, ys.  i cant tell what the difference is but there is a difference.  my parents didnt beat me but they made me the kind of person that needs a damn good reason to cause another person trouble.  and when my bike got pushed over a couple months ago i thought about whether i would have done that when i was younger, and i couldnt think of a scenario where i would have been able to justify that.  although i have a hard time thinking of ways to justify the mass kidnapping of false idols nowadays, i still think there's a difference.  and one that doesnt rely on brute force.
sorry about your bike,

Thanks peoples.

Good thing it's still in the 'project bike' phase or I'd be more angry. But, I'm going to buy a pellet gun, and sit in my upstairs window and wait for it to happen again.

I F%$king hate Halloween!!! I would rather take my kids to the store and let em go on a little shopping spree once a year. Sure...we all did it when we were younger but in this day & age,its just too dangerous. And I don't like the idea of having to lock my #$%* up just to keep little #$%*s from destroying it in my own front yard. I know its sad but its true. Same goes for 4th of July. When we were kids,it was on!! Now you light a firecracker and you are a criminal!!

I was firmly in the Charles Bronson camp when someone broke into my truck.  In a matter of hours, I had a list of phone numbers they had called using my cell phone.  Although all were cell numbers, I was able to get a name and address for one of the numbers.  Looked up their buddy's info in the criminal database and found out they'd been busted for meth production.

No longer in the Charles Bronson camp.   ;D   I may have an over-developed sense of justice, but I ain't messing with no crack-head (or meth-head as the case may be).

Just something to consider, even if you find the little f*cker(s) that did it...

They may have been pretending to ride it (or possibly trying to steal it)  and it just fell over, I almost dropped mine trying to start it once or twice...

If they did it on porpose I'd kick some hind ends, or shoot them with the pellet gun...
