Luckyeights,

How about some posts (PLURAL) as to what you did to the 1976 CB550F from start to finish, and pictures too, if you have them.

The bike turned out beautiful, but it's not just the destination but the journey, too!!  :D

Sadly those pictures have been lost  :'(.   Things done to the bike.

Front to back:
Front disc brake caliper replaced (new pads seals ect) (Polished)
Rebuilt master Cylinder
Front fender replaced due to dents
Replaced Front and rear wheel bearings
Fork rebuilt and new seals (Polished)

Found replacement turn signals front and back as it had no turn signals orignaly
New flasher

Tank had some nasty funk in it.  Put a couple hundered BBs in the tank along with some degreasers and shook it all up the BBs scrubed the inside the tank pretty nicely.
New in tank fuel filter/strainer

The carbs were pulled striped all the way down and went into my ultrasonic cleaner. These carbs had some sort of blackish green stuff growing in them.  Very Nasty!  All new brass and rings and bench synced.  (BTW the carbs in the inside especialy carb 4 is prety badly scard from the gas eating the metal #3 also damaged but not as bad as 4, will want to repalce at some point let me know if you have one!)

Removed all side covers for polishing.
Polished covers(THIS TOOK FOREVER!)

adjusted tapets, points and cam chain

Removed drive chain it too went into the ultrasonic with degreaser

New battery
New air filter
New rubbers for side covers
New tires
replaced rear fender due to being twisted

All fresh fluids

And im sure there are some minor things along the way i replaced as well.  Main thing now is that she runs good and she is pretty to look at.

sounds like you put a lot of work in it. it's nice to see a bike that's kept so close to stock.
how many miles are on it? from what i can spy, the clock faces don't look like the saw much sunlight.
i'm very happy with my 550, these are fun bikes.

Another '76 550F owner here, nice job!

Flatlander - for some unknown reason, the '76 green faced gauges seem to resist UV damage. Mine look real good too, yours?

on mine, the green is good but the red is a bit faded. on his, if i see right, even the red looks like new.
red always seems to be the first colour to react to UV, also in other places, for some reason.

BTW it is really hard to tell from the photo but that is the original dark brown seat for that year.  From my understanding that was the only year they made a dark brown seat pretty cool i think.   :)

i did spot that!
now you need to get an original exhaust. they seem to pop up from time to time but are also quite rare.
and indicator lights... don't know what the 76 550f came with in the US but over here they were the smaller version which i find nicer.
and handlebar grips... you need oldskool honda hard rubber handlebar grips!

ok i'm getting carried away now  ;)

Correct. 1 year only.  I was able to find one in very good cond for mine.

Flatlander - your smaller "winkers" must have been Euro only, not US.
