Sealing 77/78 750/550 tanks: how did you seal the fuel opening?
« on: October 20, 2015, 08:52:38 AM »
I've sealed several tanks with Caswells but never one like this.. '77 CB550, which has the flat keyed flap and the inner gas cap. Previously, with the "pop up" caps, I've just stuck a latex glove flat over the hole and closed the cap, which held the glove in place and didn't allow the epoxy to get on the rubber cap gasket. Can I do the same with this one, or is there a better way?
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.

I use a rubber stopper. Ace hardware, home Depot, etc. will have one the right size.

Perhaps a spare cap?
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Perhaps a spare cap?

^^^^ I could use one of those, mine has pinhole leaks that sweat condensing fuel. :/

Haven't look too hard for those caps but seemed hard to find...

I used one of these... easily found also at home depot or OSH etc.
just get the right diameter.

I recently restored and sold a 77 cb750f, and am nearly finished with a (former basket case) cb750k5.  This is a place to share, learn and enjoy.  I am grateful to and for 99+% of this site's membership.
