Cb550 and battery upgrade question
« on: October 20, 2015, 01:44:00 PM »
First off, im on my phone and the search function doesnt seem to work. Every search ends in no results found regardless of what i search so i apologize if this question has been asked before.

Ok so mission is to rebuild my cb550. Situation, currently stripped down to the frame and im looking at how to mount the battery before it goes to welding. Already have a cafe hoop on and was wanting to put the battery under the seat. I came across shorei and think a smaller more compact battery would be better to hid it however somewhere i saw that i might need a new regulator/ reluctifuer. Question is, is that true? What exactly will i need if i get a smaller batter (shorei or antigravity) while running the oem electrical components and harness.

Hope to get more input here, other pages didnt offer much insight.

Thanks in advance.

I have Lithium batteries in a few vintage bikes but all have modern rec/regs in them. IMO you should install a modern one if going with a Lithium to prevent overcharging and ruining the battery.
