The three available around here right now, the s90 runs rides new tires, missing its tank badges $400, the 400a is a nice running bike, might need some maintainance but has been in use $1000, the 650 is a garage find, no title, dented $300 probably a parts bike.

Which one is the deal?

Seems like the s-90's are holding their value, and one that runs for that price would be a good pit bike.

The 650 has the cam people want for their 550, or the whole motor swaps in I think.

The S90 would be my first choice. The older kid next door had one that he raced at the local TT races, on a track set up in the infield of the clay stock-car track in the '60s. I've always liked the looks, and on a cc to cc comparison the 90 put out more power than a CB750.

If the 90 is in good shape and has the air filter parts and battery door then it would be worth $400. With good paint job your looking at maybe 800-1200 at most. Nice riding bike for pit bike or rv bike and everyone looks them. Can be made into a pretty street bike for short city commutes. But, they are likely to be stolen unless secured.

79 650 can be a very pretty bike but the frame design of later isn't appealing to me.

S90 can approximately be aged by tag on harness beneath tank as they eere generally titled for years soldand not necessarily the year produced. Yahoo s90 group is great resource like this forum.

FYI...I make the battery door and airfilter covers for the s90. I got sick of hens teeth pricing on them.

That yahoo forum is a great resource but a terrible layout. I have a yahoo inbox with over 2000 emails....all just follow up response to posts I made or in threads I posted in...yikes.

It, Yahoo S90 group, is something you need to keep up on the email or it buries your inbox as Franky said.  Great knowledge base of owners to tap into though.
Later year last 1 1/2 year of production in US had chrome fenders with the two different colors a Ruby red metallic or Tahiti Blue ?
both were a candy paint
the red bikes sell better than other colors typically.
The cloud silver for the fenders snd other silver paint bodywork has a close color match by widely available Duplicolor spray can.

Now that I want it the S90 has no title. I've been all over the net looking for a titled frame. Fudge.

I've been looking for a titled frame but let me pose this $400 is the price should I just buy it anyway?  Needs a seat or maybe cover, tank badges $20, battery door no problem, and has a pod filter, New tires, goes 50mph or more.

IIRC, the S90 had a rated top speed of 65MPH. What are you going to do with the bike? If it is going to be a pit bike, does it need to be licensed?

Vt title route could give you a legal title.

Actually the seller worked at Cordova Dragway so he used it off road, with the pit speed limits he didn't get to run it out often.  I'm always thinking of resale but the pic above and Frankenbikes thread has me thinking I want one. They also seem to sell well when they're nice.
I have looked into VT too thanks. It just adds a little more to the cost. Honestly if it had the title it would cost more.

I just reminded myself of one of those guys asking what to do until the bike is gone. Sorry, not like me.

I have a new seat I could sell you. I can also give you a recipe for obtaining a title in any state. My 90 had no title.
Step 1. Have police officer do a vin identification . he just looks at the bikes numbers and you fill in the blanks on a sheet....he signs.
Step 2. Have a registration history search. If it was ever registered you need to make up a bill of sale with that persons name. If there is no history....just fill out a bill of sale with my name on it. Bought it at a yard sale for $50. You are going to have to pay the sales tax on whatever you put on that bill of sale. The age of the bike will help you with the lack of paperwork. Be persistent at the registry. Bring every paper. Fill out a new title application. Your $400 bike is now a $1200 bike.
