1977 CB550K Stock Air Cleaner Box
« on: October 24, 2015, 09:23:57 AM »
just purchased bike and cover for air cleaner box is missing - ordered what I believe is stock cover for 1977-78 but not sure if it fits my air box and how it would attach - hard to find good diagrams and major variations from year to year. Can anyone provide photos of 1977 stock air box cover and fasteners?

Looks like everything you have is correct. Only thing that looks missing is the little bracket with the stud on the back end of the housing and the 2 wing nuts to secure the lid..
Check the schematic here:

Glad to know I'm on the right track - starting to collect the fasteners, hoping more will show up on eBay!

These are the part numbers your looking for, they are the same on all 550's from 75-78:
17216390000 are the wing nuts
17215390000 are the rear stays.

Both are discontinued but keep doing Google searches and you'll find something eventually. Unless you're doing a full restore, getting universal replacement wing nuts shouldn't be hard. The other part is pretty model specific.
