Actually, the GL1000 may have had 17 rears.  Make sure to check before buying.

I should probably just replace the front spokes for now, and later on when I switch out the front end to a USD get a nice set of sunrims front and rear to compliment the bike.

Small update, got a second job so I've been a little busy.. not so much on the bike. However a good friend of mine has been working the frame issue for me.

Everything is handmade and I couldn't be happier with the results so far. I've also just made plans with a friend who has expedience painting engines for once the lower case is split to get the case spiffed up.

I also made a little time to clean up my work space and garage.

I'm working up to splitting the case, pretty anxious TERRIFIED of it.

Started to do a little while I had some time this evening,

I already have a concern, the connecting rods have some rust on them.. is this normal and I can just soda blast them? OR should I try to replacement. As I've mentioned before I do not plan to do a very high out put engine, just a 836cc kit later down the road, for now I am keeping stock displacement.

So far so great man! Not to poo poo your plans but I'm 5'9 150 and was very uncomfortable riding 2 up on my 750 brat. My old lady is 5'1 110. So she got her own cb360.

Today I made some great progress!

Started with flipping the engine upside down over a recycling bin,

I also did this to keep track of the bolts, and rolled it up like an tool bag to keep them from sliding out.

Now I was starting to get in to the case, to my surprise it in very good shape, no hard build up and the rollers for the primary look great (to me?)

This fell out of the timing cover, not sure where its from HELP

And now I'm here,

So as far as I can tell nothing looks terribly out of place or worn, looks like I'm going to end up with a fairly solid little engine after this.

And a little more happened.

Maybe it wasn't the best choice to drill it out... one bolt out of everything so far isn't too bad!

Sharing a garage with three other people has it's down sides.. luckily everyone has been respecting my space with the build, I have good roommates.

The kindness of people is astonishing sometimes.
 Merry Christmas.

To give a small update on the build I packed up my engine and took it to soda blast and my soda blaster crapped out me, I will be on some what of a hold till I pick up a new one.

Small update: I got my CM400t back, my first bike! My buddy who had it was moving and couldn't keep both his cb125 and the 400 and since the cm400 needed some engine work he passed it back to me! So now I'm going to be trying to get that back on the road rather quickly. Looks like I need to resurface the gasket surface and replace the head gaskets.

So the friend who was working on the frame for me? He brought gifts today.

Could not be happier with the out come. There was a bit of a worry about the frame being bent, I went through everything with a level and it's all strait, just looks wonky... May become a bigger concern once we see how it tracks.

I also got a few surprised form him as well.

A 550 rear swing arm so I can have a tubular frame all the way through, also allowing for a wider tire/wheel.

And theses beauties.

Coming along slowly but surely. I've been working on the cm400t I posted about previously and should have that wrapped up shortly.. I also will be starting a new job since I lost mine back in December it'll help to get some money flowing through to fund the project.

Are you thinking of using that 550 swing arm for the 750?

That's a good mod. The 550 swingarm is slightly longer than the 750 arm and accommodates a wider wheel.

It's not as strong and the 750 is a good bit heaver then the 550.  I would recommend welding in an under tube loop to stiffen it up.

This one is a tad aggressive but it illustrates the idea:
