Solenoid rubber mount?
« on: October 28, 2015, 11:38:55 PM »
My 1975 CB550K came to me missing the starter solenoid & rubber solenoid mount that attaches to the electrical panel. I have a replacement solenoid, but haven't been able to find the rubber mount.

The fiche on CMSNL & Bike Bandit don't show the part, so I haven't got a part number.

Just wondering if anyone might have a spare or might be able to suggest an alternate solution/part? I could buy a cheap chinese solenoid off ebay, but not sure if the mount is the same size & configuration.
Could also figure out another way to mount it, but I'd rather not have to hack the panel, so just thought I'd put it to the brains trust first.

In a jam you could get a sol. at NAPA for a car or lawn mower that mounts with two screws but be sure to check the amp rating. This would be easy quick and cheap. Maybe a 550 guy will chime in with what you want also post in parts wanted. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/board,176.0.html
or parts for sale.

Bootsey, try shooting an email to Roger at imrwallick@osprey.net for this. He has a recycle yard in South Carolina that at one time had about 3,000 Japanese bikes and may have the rubber mount you need. He has helped with odd parts I have needed in the past. Tell him Dana in Pennsylvania referred you.

Thanks RevDoc - I probably should have mentioned I'm in Australia, but I'll keep it in mind.

I see David Silvers has the part for special order, so I'll contact them and see if they can get one for me.

Bootsey, if Roger has one for you, his prices are so low that even with the minimal postage it would take to get that small part to Australia it would probably be a lot less than a special order through David Silver! ;)
