Welp, one truck in the shop getting a range sensor replaced, the other decided to puke all its coolant from somewhere behind the motor.. if neither is ready in time I might not have a ride  :-\

Now im nervous
What is a "range sensor"? I've heard of oxygen sensors, MAP sensors, throttle position sensors, etc.
What truck is puking coolant? I had a Ford with a leaky freeze plug in the back of the head, and rather than pull the head, I cut a hole through the firewall and replaced the plug from inside the passenger compartment.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Range sensor for my 2006 f150 fx4.. its part of the transmission and tells it what gear it should be in. Ive had it doing this for some time down. Can feel hard downshifts as im braking and sometimes goes between gears while on the highway trying to find the right one. Im worried the wiring harness to the transmission may be at fault as well..

The one leaking coolant is a 2002 f150 4.2l v6, 220k miles and hasent been on the road since 2011. Ive been trying to get it back to driveable the last few weeks. I noticed the coolant had been slowly lowering in the resivour so I knew there had to be a leak somewhere.

After taking the 06 back to the transmission shop I came home and gave the other truck a once over before going to run errands and just happened to notice coolant pouring out from under the motor and onto the ground pretty rapidly.. I noticed a small puddle under the intake manifold but havent located the source of the leak. But the entire resivour was drained in about 2 minutes of idle run time.. not good  :-\

Meh, weve had both trucks since new. 180,000 miles on the 06. Its made 2 round trips to Georgia, round trip to Memphis, as well as another to Colorado all since last November. Truck has done some work..

And the other truck is another story.. sat up 4 years in harsh summers and cold winters, just need some tlc ;)

Vehicles are all the same, its how you treat them that mtters. Except Kia's... Fu€k Kia's..

 ;D

Dont count me out yet ;)

A friend had a Ford that would start up fine, but as soon as he shifted the trans into drive, the motor would die. Long story short, the trans got it's RPM signal from the ignition module, and that portion of the module had failed. Just something to keep in mind, if the new range sensor doesn't fix it..
