The new master cylinder from David Silver Spares in now installed and pushing fluid. It looks WAY better than the original that was on here!

I bought chrome gauge covers from Charles Place for $61 shipped.

They are now installed on my 550 gauges which are mounted on my CB750. They are a perfect fit and a breeze to install. The clamp replaces the ring that you have to pry off in order to open the gauges up, so that made it even easier! There is a hole on the side of one presumably for the trip reset. I just turned it until the hole was on the bottom. No one will ever see it. I applied overlays to the faces while I had them apart.

Ed, I'm kinda stuck with this weird binding in the carb set. It feels like one of the slides(?) is sticking, but it isn't consistent. So that's what's got me stumped. I rebuilt the carbs and had them running, but they just don't snap back like they should...
Any ideas?

Yeah...........and your not gonna like it. That sticking is probably exactly that. You are running a fiberglass tank and what you get when they start to dissolve is gas that becomes sticky like glue when it evaporates. I bet your slides, carbs, intake valves, and intake tract are all sticky to the touch. The good news is its really easy to clean. Any carb cleaner will take it right off. The bad news is your tank is dissolving and needs to be re-sealed. Pull the air box off and open the throttle then feel inside the carb bores with your finger to see if they are sticky. This is an ongoing problem with fiberglass tanks. You will have to pull the carbs and completely dissassemble them to clean out all the residue.

It's an original Dunstall that was lined but never used by the original owner (can't remember what he used, but it wasn't kreem). I really hope that isn't the case. No one is making aluminum Dunstall tanks so this is all I have!

I am now in the market for an alloy fuel tank to replace my fiberglass Dunstall that is clogging my carbs. I was looking at the alloy CR tank from Roc City Cafe, but he is not taking any new orders at the moment. The search continues...

A Cr tank is really nice

Sorry, all the yummy parts have already been sold.
As for color scheme, I'm going with gloss black and chrome. Maybe some pin stripping, not sure yet. The first thing is finding an alloy tank in the CR style!

I just got my alloy tank from Singh at Singh Saddleries in India. It cost me about $540 shipped, and it came with 2 petcocks and the aircraft style cap (although I will probably get different petcocks - maybe Pingel).
Singh was very good about taking my pictures and measurements and creating the tank I envisioned. He sent me pictures of the build along the way, and made a few tweaks per my recommendations.
Here is a cell phone picture of the tank and seat just sitting on the bike. I'll take some better pictures this weekend, but I need to figure out a way to trim or recess the bolt on my upper triple so it doesn't hit the tank.

Given the lower height of the clubmans and their angle, you might want to think about rearsets. Alternatively, you could get adjustable Condor clubmans (see my 550 build) that will flatten out some of the bar angle. As is, with the stock pegs, that will be a tad uncomfortable on long rides. Just $0.02.

I hear you - it's not the most comfortable ride around! But I designed it to have a specific look, not for ergonomics. I remember my dad (RIP) telling me about his hot rodding days in the 50's when they would modify their cars by removing excess weight and adding hand-made custom whatever to make it go faster and look cool. This is an homage to him.
I'll just be taking shorter rides I suppose.

I hear what you're saying about aesthetics. With the Tommaselli Condor (adjustable) Clubmans (http://guzzino.com/tococlba.html), you can get the look and still have comfort. They list for about $150 but you can get them cheaper if you shop around the web. You still get the Clubman café look, you just get comfort and better control too. You can adjust the angle of bars to make them extremely sharp (and uncomfortable) to flat.

Rearsets are not only period correct, they will make long rides MUCH more tolerable.

Anyway, just trying to help with my $0.02! Carry on!
