Jacket liner or sweater?
« on: November 02, 2015, 03:58:03 PM »
Which do you think would be more effective now that the temps are getting into the 30's - putting my jacket liner back in, or throwing on a sweater under the jacket?

With the sweater at least I have something to wear once I'm off the bike, but it feels like I'm wasting my money consigning the jacket liner to the back closet 'cause it never gets used.

I'm a big fan of hoodies and thermal undies (sometimes 2) under the jacket and warm gloves.

Liner and fleece jacket under it when it gets colder.

The Jacket liner has a purpose and should be used.  Layering is important.

I don't need to wear both, the jacket is fine for anything over 45F, the liner is pretty poofy though, one of the reasons I'm not inclined to wear it.  Bulkiness is a real concern, especially when it restricts your movements - although I'm not certain a sweater is any better, especially if the arms bunch up under the jacket.

I suppose I'll stick with the liner, it's not like I need a jacket at work.

It is hard to beat fleece for its insulating properties without a lot of bulk.

+1

I picked up my fleece layer on the very first trip to pickup GZ - took me 30 miles to realize I underestimated the weather.

Yes, its chilly.  Rode to work yesterday.  Leather jacket w/ liner over a base layer of Under Armor, with a long sleeve Patagonia R1 (microfleece) pullover.
No bulk and its enough to keep me plenty warm w the wind chill.
