Brake fluid change
« on: November 03, 2015, 05:48:24 PM »
The bike season is over here in Ontario, for me anyway.
Part of tucking my bike away for winter is bleeding the brakes to get rid of the old waterlogged fluid.  (I realize many don't but it is a good practice)
Bleeding the brakes isn't hard but it is a nuciance.
This year I was thinking of just sucking the fluid out of the master cylinder, then push the caliper piston all the way back in, empty the master cylinder resovoir again.
Then add new fluid.
Comments?

I would just hook up a small hose to the bleeder and open it to let it drain. When the master started getting low, I'd add some more until the new showed up at the hose, then shut the bleeder and refill.
I use clear hose, makes this easier. ;)

I agree with Hondaman.   Although bleeding brakes can be messy, I picked up a "bleeder bag" last year when I installed a speed bleeder on my K4 last year.
Just used it again on my K6, did not spill a drop.
